The Discern'd Experience

Your space. Your comfort zone.

Discern’d is here for a simple reason:
To take the mystery out of cannabis consumption
by educating adults about its benefits,
properties and safe usage.

Our goal is to be your resource for accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive cannabis information—thereby empowering you to make choices that optimize your experience. For everyone—from existing users to inexperienced ones—the science behind cannabis represents new and exciting terrain. Today’s latest research provides innovative insights on all aspects of the cannabis industry— from growing to selecting and consuming. In short, there is a lot of valuable information that can benefit all cannabis users … and our Purveyors are here to share it.

What to expect at Discern'd.

We’re here to help; it’s as simple as that.

Our Purveyors are among the best-trained in the industry. Given our focus on education and knowledge sharing, we have hired a talented, creative team who share in that same commitment. We are partnered with GFI Institute—the nation’s most respected and elite cannabis-certification program—in offering a catalog of over 300 courses, ranging from sales to cultivation. Furthermore, we require that all Purveyors complete an extensive Dispensary Agent Certification and earn a digital badge that attests to their credentials.

We also welcome all your thoughts, observations and insights. After all, in addition to knowledge, a satisfying cannabis experience is most rewarding when shared with others.

Our top priority is your comfort level.

The physical space at Discern’d has been specifically designed to be welcoming and inviting. Our culture seeks to dismantle all existing stigmas and foster a supportive environment in which customers can make their own personal, informed decisions—drawing on our Purveyors’ expertise as needed.
Bottom line: We do our utmost to make you comfortable in every respect.

Significantly, we ensure that your maximized comfort level extends to our cannabis products themselves. Many people are hesitant to explore cannabis because they are anxious about consuming products that affect them in ways they’re not anticipating (e.g., a product that is unexpectedly fast-acting, with quick-release properties).

In short, an essential component of a positive cannabis experience is always feeling in control.

That’s why our Purveyors carefully explain the nuances and subtleties of our product offerings—ensuring that you fully understand their properties and effects. When consuming cannabis, we want to completely eliminate the “surprise factor.”

The Discern'd Mission.

We seek to educate, curate, and cultivate knowledge of cannabis by providing a comfortable, approachable space; one in which people can learn about the myriad ways cannabis can enhance their lives.

To that end, we sell only the highest quality products—an extensive variety of the market’s best available products, which are then carefully hand-selected in-store to perfectly match your needs, interests and lifestyle.

An additional factor in precipitating a feeling of control at the product level concerns consistency.

If you consume the same product regularly, it’s important that you’re affected the same way each time. This is yet another reason why the cannabis we sell is of the highest quality. We curate and test our product offerings to ensure they are proven consistent—time after time—to yield repeatable, expected effects.

The Importance of Sourcing and Curating.

We are extremely selective with the products we carry. We continually explore and test various products from numerous manufacturers, wholesalers and other cannabis businesses to ultimately offer what we believe are the finest-available products, devices and accessories. When it comes to selecting and selling, we deliver maximum quality … consistently!

Q&A: Worthwhile Questions for your Purveyor.

When you’re new to using cannabis, looking at menus can be overwhelming if you’re not sure where to start. Explain to your assigned purveyor what your end goal with cannabis is, what kind of affects you are looking for, or what you want to avoid with cannabis. There are many different consumption methods that will affect you differently. Take your time and ask questions. We are here to help!

This question not only applies to edibles but also flower and other products. Every body is different and responds to cannabis differently, every given day. We recommend discussing your cannabis history with your Purveyor to better direct you to a product that will fit your needs!

Labels on cannabis products can be confusing, but don’t get overwhelmed! Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) may be one of the most common cannabinoids due its intoxicating effects, but other cannabinoids may also be beneficial toward achieving your end goal. Our Purveyors will take the time to walk you through what each label means and how to interpret them.

Absolutely! Not all cannabis products are meant to give an overpowering effect, ask your Purveyor about some of our 1:1 products, high CBD strains or something with a low THC percentage.

Terpenes are essential oils that are found inside of the cannabis plant. Terpenes not only dictate how a strain will taste or smell, but it also will affect how you feel! Ask your Purveyor what terpene will best fit your needs.

There are many alternatives to smoking cannabis, perhaps something like an edible, tincture or capsules. We also offer a selection of dry herb vaporizers which will let you enjoy flower in a discreet manner!

Different methods of consumption will affect you differently. Inhaling cannabis can take effect within minutes and give you relief for hours, fast-acting edibles will give you relief within 20 minutes with a shorter duration while traditional edibles may take up to two hours and last for up to six hours or more. Ask your Purveyor about what products will be the best fit for your needs!

Cannabis Guide

Please note that all statements made within this outline are for educational purposes only, and the effects may vary for each individual person. This guide will serve as a learning and educational tool for the many different methods of cannabis consumption. Please consume responsibly. As a general rule of thumb: Go low and slow!

Our Flower Selections

Our interactive flower bar allows you to view and smell each flower strain as you learn about their genetics and benefits. In spending time at our flower bar you will notice that each different strain will have its own distinct look, color, smell and cannabinoid breakdown. Most strains contain some THC and CBD but can also contain other lesser known cannabinoids such as THCA, CBG just to name a few. The combination of all the cannabinoids in the strain is called the TAC (Total Active Cannabinoids).

Cannabis Flower is so much more than just THC percentage and how high you can get. It’s about the smell (terpenes), the flavor (flavonoids) and the experience (desired effect/benefits). The Combination of the TAC, terpenes and flavonoids creates what is called the entourage effect which gives each strain its own distinct effect and benefits.

Our highly educated Purveyors can walk you through each product smell, flavor, and experience, so that you can make a purchasing decision with the utmost confidence.

Our Edible Selections

Edibles can come in a variety of forms including chocolate, capsules, taffy, gummies and many more forms. When deciding which edible might suit you best, you want to keep your desired outcome in mind. Classic edibles have a longer onset time with a longer intoxicating effect, while fast acting edibles kick in faster and with less duration of effects.

Edibles can be made utilizing different cannabis forms such as distillate or full-spectrum oil which is made with whole plant extract. Full-spectrum oil provides the consumer with a wider range of cannabinoids and terpenes, giving them the benefit of the “entourage effect” which is when the two work together to give greater effects. On the other hand, distillate provides consumers with potent THC amounts with less cannabis after-taste.

While competitive cannabis outlets sell edibles (e.g., gummies) that contain gelatin, some of our edibles contain Pectin– an organic, all-natural ingredient found in apples and other fruit. When sourcing our edibles, we focus on offering a selection of natural, wholesome, and organic plant-based options that are low in sugar and calories.

Classic (45-minute onset)
Fast-acting (10- to 20-minute onset; duration 2–4 hours)
Nano-emulsification (quick onset; duration 2–4 hours)

Our Beverage Selections

Great for social consumption, beverages can be the perfect hangout go-to, with no hangover effects. Whether in the form of a seltzer or a powdered mix to add to your drink, many consumers mix these products with juice for an enjoyable, alcohol-free “mocktail.” We carefully choose our beverage selection, selling brands with high-quality vegan, organic, all-natural ingredients and focusing on such factors as fast-acting properties, terpenes content, flavor infusion and intensity, and low sugar and calories.

Beverages allow you to carefully manage onset time and desired effects. Since beverage brands carry different milligram doses and ratios, our Purveyors can help you choose one that provides a cannabis experience to match your personal lifestyle. You define the pace that’s right for you—which could mean “starting low and going slow”—and our Purveyors will recommend the appropriate brands.

Similar to nano-emulsification gummies, beverages are available in 3–5 milligrams and tend to have fast-acting onset. They contain various ratios of THC to CBD. (Ask your Purveyor about our 1:1 products, including high CBD strains and low THC percentages.)

20- to 60-minute onset; duration 6-8 hours

Our Vape Selections

Consumers report that vaporization is less harsh on the lungs. In our store, you’ll find high-end, high-quality digital vapes as an alternative means of cannabis consumption— all of which can be adjusted for soft, medium or hard settings, providing an even distribution of heat to the products and preventing your material from burning. Some of these vapes utilize induction, conduction and or convection heaters which operate at lower temperatures.

These user-friendly vapes use less flower — as well as provide full temperature control for desired rate of flower consumption and preserve more of the terpene and cannabinoid profiles. Some of these vaporizers have dual functionality allowing for use of dry herbs and concentrates!

Alongside our dry herb vaporizer selection, we also will carry a variety of vaporizers that can be utilized for cartridges. The vaporizers are user friendly, complete with digital screens to adjust the temperature setting for a personalized experience. These batteries are compatible with any 510 thread vape and made with high quality materials. The vaporizers we carry, whether for dry herb or concentrates, are made to ensure that the quality of your product is maintained while providing an intense flavor profile and the best effects.

Our selection of dry herb vapes take flower as well as
concentrate cartridges.

2- to 3-minute onset; duration 2–3 hours

Our Concentrate Selections

Also called extracts, concentrates are a more potent cannabis medium that has a higher THC content then flower typically would. In sourcing our line of concentrates, we evaluated how they were made—including the solvents used, the degree of product consistency and stability, and—particularly important—the mechanical extraction and separation processes that transform flower into a liquid form (heat vs. pressure vs. fresh-frozen). The key to extraction is to ensure the preservation of terpenes and flavonoids and the essences and integrity of the plant material; the cleanest extraction method produces the cleanest and highest-quality end product.

These concentrates can come in many forms including, but not limited to, wax, shatter, budder, live resin, sauce, or rosin. Each of these produce different effects, have different consistencies, and are made with different methods. Depending on the form of the product, potency can fall between 35% to 100% THC and as such it is advised that interested or new users speak with one of our Purveyors to make sure that the correct concentrate and device is selected for the users desired outcome.

2- to 3-minute onset; duration 2–3 hours

Our Tincture Selections

Here you’ll find fast-acting oils that are placed under the tongue for absorption directly into your bloodstream (they can also be mixed with a beverage). Made with alcohol, oil or glycerin as a base, they typically have a 10- to 20- minute onset. Tinctures come in many THC : CBD ratios. (Ask your Purveyor about our varying THC to CBD tinctures products, including high CBD tinctures with lower THC percentages.)

In sourcing our tinctures, we procured based on content and the degree to which the process remains as true to the plant as possible rather than being a distillate which involves examining the ingredients for their origination and consistency.

10- to 60-minute onset; duration 2-4 hours
